It was evident that Travis Browne had injured his knee and would be in serious trouble in the middle of his bout with Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at UFC on FX 5 this past weekend. The injury hampered Browne’s mobility and led to his subsequent knockout loss — the first of his career — in the first round of the main event. What wasn’t know is just how bad Browne had injured his leg.

After having his leg examined by a doctor, Browne took to Twitter to let his fans know just how severe his injury would be.

“They say I tore my hamstring,” Browne tweeted. “I’ll be out of action for 2-4 months. Luckily no surgery.”

Before Friday’s knockout loss, Browne was closing in on a title shot. His undefeated record of 13-0-1 and victories over Stefan Struve and Chad Griggs pushed him near the top of the heavyweight division. But now the Hawaiian will have to sit on the shelf for a minimum of sixty days before he can begin training again.
