Travis Browne Leaves Jackson’s MMA For Glendale Training Center

UFC heavyweight Travis Browne recently said that he was thinking of moving camps, as in the above video, and news emerged today that the departure from Greg Jackson‘s MMA has been finalized. “”Hapa” has had mixed results under the tutelage of Jackson and co., including knockout wins over Alistair Overeem, Gabriel Gonzaga and Josh Barnett, a stoppage loss to Antonio Silva and most recently a decision loss to Fabricio Werdum.

Now former trainer Greg Jackson spoke to Sherdog about the big Hawaiian’s departure:

“He just wanted to shake it up a little bit. He felt like he was kind of in the same old rut, and wanted to do something a little different. We’re all very supportive of him doing that. Anything that’s best for the fighter — it’s not about us, it’s about Travis — so whatever is best for Travis. He just feels he needs to get out of his usual routine, learn some new stuff and shake it up. We’ve got to do what’s right for Travis. Whatever makes him happy and whatever he needs to do, that’s what he’ll do.”

So Browne will look to bounce back from his four-fight streak ending title eliminator against “Vai Cavalo” back at UFC on FOX 12, and has the blessing of his former cam to do so. Glendale head coach Edmond Tarvanyan has worked with some of the most elite fighters on the planet, including UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, and countless other pro MMA fighters and boxers.

Will Tarvanyan’s influence put Browne back in the win column, or should he have give Jackson’s another shot?
