Tom Aspinall Takes Aim at Dana White and Jon Jones “I’m the best heavyweight in the world”
Tom Aspinall has taken aim at UFC CEO Dana White and Jon Jones as his pursuit of the UFC heavyweight championship continues.
As we know, Tom Aspinall is currently the interim UFC heavyweight champion. While you’d think that would set him up nicely for a crack at the undisputed crown, that isn’t going to happen. Why? Because Jon Jones, the undisputed champ, is set to defend against Stipe Miocic instead later this year.
Many fans and pundits have called this move into question. While Miocic is absolutely a legend in his own right, Aspinall has earned the right to go up against one of the greatest of all time. Plus, he recently defended the strap against Curtis Blaydes just to steady up his position at the top.
The longer that Jones goes without saying he wants to fight the Englishman, the more people believe he will retire after fighting Miocic. Either way, though, it seems as if Tom Aspinall is starting to lose his patience.
That certainly seemed to be on display during a recent interview in which he let loose on the ‘GOAT’ and Dana White.
Tom Aspinall slams Jon Jones and Dana White
“The way I look at it, I’m the best heavyweight in the world, and I’m not getting my credit for it. They’re holding the belt hostage, mate and Jon Jones is loving it. Jon Jones is loving the fact that Dana White is getting on every interview possible, freaking hell if you talk about bantamweights and Dana White flips it back to talk about how good Jon Jones is. I’m like mate, if he is that good, let’s fight. I’m the No. 1 heavyweight in the world right now, let’s put it on the line and see who the man is, me or Jon,” Aspinall said on Michael Bisping’s podcast.
