UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy got some pretty rough news last night. Just four days removed from UFC 205 and his opponent Rashad Evans has been pulled. After more than two years away from the octagon, Kennedy is now without an opponent. Although ‘Suga’ looked ripped in his physique at 195 pounds, as posted by Dana White, apparently the New York Athletic Commission had other ideas. At this stage, all we know is that Evans had a medical issue noticed by the NYAC.

Last fighting for the UFC in 2014, US military veteran Tim Kennedy became jaded with the sport. Losing a highly controversial bout with Yoel Romero at UFC 178, Kennedy’s future in the UFC was unclear. ‘Stoolgate’ saw Kennedy get knocked out by Romero after a seemingly extended break for the Olympian between rounds two and three. Having been badly hurt, Kennedy accused ‘Soldier of God’ of taking additional time between rounds to recover.

Can’t Catch a Break

Now with Evans removed from the UFC’s debut in New York, Kennedy again is the victim of bad fortune. Taking to his Twitter account last night, the 23-fight veteran called out a familiar face to replace ‘Suga’ at UFC 205:

Oddly enough, it just so turns out that Nick Diaz is actually in town for UFC 205 doing a meet and greet on Friday night:

Notorious for staying in fight shape, former welterweight champ Nick Diaz has also been on hiatus from MMA. Last competing against Anderson Silva in January of 2015, Diaz’s latest battle was against the kangaroo court of the Nevada Athletic Commission. Now free to fight again, and in New York for the festivities, is this a last-minute match made in heaven?
