Three Bouts Added To Rapidly Developing UFC 166 Card
It looks like the UFC’s fall foray into Texas is turning into quite the show, as three hard-hitting bouts have been added to the Houston card. Joining the earlier announcement that Roy Nelson will fight Daniel Cormier in the co-main event at UFC 166, fellow heavyweights Shawn Jordan and Gabriel Gonzaga are set to collide. The fighters both come in off of stoppage wins over Pat Barry and Dave Herman, respectively so the bout presents serious potential for fireworks.
At middleweight, two fighters who’ve lost momentum in recent months will fight for their relevancy as former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold will hook up with Tim Boetsch. Rockhold was famously knocked out by a Vitor Belfort spinning wheel kick this May, while Boetsch was thoroughly outworked by a re-motivated Mark Munoz at UFC 162. It’ll be a fight where emotions are flying high, as a loss will be devastating for either fighter.
Finally, at lightweight, George Sotiropoulos will face off with K.J. Noons. Again, both fighters come in off a loss and may need an impressive victory just to keep their jobs.
