Thomas Almeida Eyes Bout With Bryan Caraway In Brazil
Brazilian bantamweight prospect Thomas Almeida has proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the 135-pound division, and he is definitely on the rise of becoming a legitimate contender. Almeida is coming off of a super impressive flying knee knockout win over veteran Brad Pickett at last month’s UFC 189, and it seems as if he knows when he would like to get back into the Octagon.
Now in the top 10 in the rankings, the Brazilian said that no one can run from him anymore, also expressing his interest in fighting on November 7, 2015 at UFC Fight Night 77 which is set to go down in his home of Brazil:
“Whoever the UFC puts in front of me, that’s who I’ll fight,” Almeida told Sexto Round. “There’s nowhere to run now, I’m in the top 10. If I could choose, I wouldn’t want to fight a Brazilian, I’d rather fight a foreigner, especially if it’s here in Sao Paulo. I would like to fight here on November 7. I told the UFC I’d be ready for any event, but it would be really nice if I could fight here at home.”
Although he will accept anyone, Almeida does have his eye on one fellow bantamweight, and that would be No. 6-ranked Bryan Caraway, who is coming off of a win over Eddie Wineland at last month’s UFC on FOX 16.
Almeida thinks a bout with Caraway would be a good fight, and he also thinks it would be an interesting showdown for the fans, especially if held in Brazil:
“I think Bryan Caraway would be a cool fight. He’s Miesha Tate‘s boyfriend or husband, I don’t know. So there’s already some interest from the media. I think that would get me more attention. Especially if it happens here in Sao Paulo. It would be cool to fight him.”
Would you like to see these two rising bantamweights square off in November, and who would you pick to walk away the victor?
