Thiago Silva Re-Signed By The UFC, Will Fight In 2015
Controversial UFC light-heavyweight Thiago Silva has been resigned by the UFC. After a year filled with legal battles, it looks like the troubled veteran is getting his shot at the big time once again.
We learned yesterday that the charges by ex-wife were being dropped, after she was unable to testify due to having left the United States. I mean, that’s not suspicious at all. Silva’s exposure in the media was harsh to say the least, and what’s to say the guy doesn’t deserve another shot? Yes is the answer, according to Dana White:
“When this thing went down, I said he’d never fight in the UFC again. When I watched it unfold on TV and heard of the charges, it didn’t look good for Thiago Silva. But he was acquitted of all charges. How do you not let the guy fight again? He went through the legal process and came out of it untainted,” White said to UFC.com. “He deserves to be able to make a living again. He’s back under contract.”
His team posted the following tweet:
We are proud to announce that Thiago Silva is officially back with the #UFC – We are truly thankful to… http://t.co/3inPiBjvf2 — Blackzilians (@blackzilians) September 5, 2014
Before you say it, the Blackzilians official twitter account has been active in the time since the post about Silva, with photos taken at UFC Fight Night 50….so this was not a hacked tweet. The charges ranged from kidnapping to attempted murder at the start of the whole fiasco, and some people joked about Silva getting his job back. Never a truer word than said in jest.
Is this another example of the UFC playing double standards with the code of conduct, or a display of loyalty for an innocent man? Either way, the now notorious Silva will once again grace the octagon
