Jorge Masvidal To Fight Benson Henderson At UFC Fight Night 79
The injury bug bites another main event in the UFC.
MMA Junkie.com is reporting that welterweight Thiago Alves (21-10 MMA, 13-7 UFC) has sustained a broken rib and is unable to fight Benson Henderson (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 79.
Thiago Alves (21-10) 12 KOs, 2 subs, 7 decision wins in his career and is on a one-fight losing streak. He has won 11 of his last 15 fights; six of those have been by KO. He’s 3-3 in his last six bouts that started with a unanimous decision loss to Rick Story at UFC 130, but rebounded with a first-round RNC win at UFC 138 against Papy Abedi. He lost to Martin Kampmann in March of 2012 by third-round guillotine choke. He then rattled off a two-fight winning streak with wins over Seth Baczynski in April of 2014 by unanimous decision and then a second-round KO of Jordan Mein at UFC 183. He had his nose broke in his last bout against Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 67.
Jorge Masvidal (29-9, 6-2 UFC) has agreed to fight Henderson in the main event.
UFC Fight Night 79 takes place on November 28, 2015, at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea. The entire event will air on UFC Fight Pass. The co-main event will feature Jorge Masvidal vs. Dong Hyun Kim. This event will feature a four bout main card.
