Tarverdyan: This Time, I’m Going To Make Sure Ronda Punishes Miesha

UFC 190 went down last night (August 1, 2015) live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, and dominant women’s bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey once again took the breath away from many, scoring yet another awe-inspiring first-round TKO over Bethe “Pitbull” Correia.

With another spectacular win in her rearview mirror, it seems as if Rousey will face off with a familiar foe next time around, as Dana White has confirmed that the champion and Miesha Tate will go round three for the title.

The two have met twice before, once back in Strikeforce, where Rousey took Tate’s title, as well as breaking “Cup Cake’s” arm. They have also met once before in the UFC back at UFC 168, this time the fight going three rounds, but Rousey still scoring a submission victory.

Despite having lost to the champion twice, Tate has won four-straight, and due to the shortage of viable contenders, she has undoubtedly earned her shot.

The champion has said that she is perfectly fine fighting Tate again, and it seems as if Rousey’s head coach, Edmond Tarverydyan is happy with the matchup as well.

He recently stated on an edition of the MMA Hour that he will make sure Tate gets punished this time, also noting that third fight will truly damage “Cup Cake’s” career:

The thing is, Ronda took her Strikeforce title from her. Ronda beat her once in the UFC. So, basically she’s getting her second shot at Ronda in UFC. Which a lot of fighters get two title fights and she’s been winning her last four fights. She’s been doing a bit better it seems like, for her. But, it’s cool. I like that fight, I am real excited for that fight actually because this time I am going to make sure Miesha gets really punished. She doesn’t know what she’s getting into, it’s not going to be good for her career. This one is going to hurt for sure. She is going to get a lot of damage and it will not be healthy for her career, and you are going to see that.”

As for when and where this fight may go down, Rousey stated last night that she would like to fight on the monstrous Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor card, which is being targeted for December at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. UFC president Dana White seems interested in the possibility as well.
