Stipe Miocic mocks Jon Jones over ‘B*tch’ comment pre-UFC 309: ‘He was telling everybody he would beat my ass’
UFC 309 headliner, Stipe Miocic appears to find some irony in the fact Jon Jones voiced his disapproval at being labelled a “b*tch” by the incoming title challenger — particularly after claiming he would beat him in the Octagon this weekend.
Miocic, a former two-time undisputed heavyweight gold holder, has been sidelined for the last three years, most recently suffering a hellacious second round knockout loss to two-time foe, Francis Ngannou in the pair’s title rematch.
And retaining the number eight rank in the official heavyweight pile despite his hiatus, Ohio veteran, Stipe Miocic will take on Jones this weekend in a title headliner — with the latter sidelined since scooping vacant gold back in March of last year in a dominant submission over former champion, Ciryl Gane.
Stipe Miocic finds irony in Jon Jones’ comments ahead of UFC 309
Ahead of their title main event in a bid to promote the pairing during a UFC 309: Countdown segment — Stipe Miocic urged Jones to “Bring it on, b*tch” — leading to a fiery response from the defending champion.
“Hiring black fighters to mimic me will not help you Stipe,” Jones wrote on X. “And you shouldn’t have called me a bitch, the disrespect wasn’t necessary. Let’s play.”
And at his media availability today ahead of UFC 309, Miocic seemed to find some irony in the comments made by Jones — pointing to the fact that the Rochester native warned fans he would “beat” him when they meet.
“He (Jon Jones) was telling everyone he was going to beat my ass, did he not say that? … It’s funny. It’s just comical. It’s actually very funny.
