Sonnen disses Jon Jones, the champ blasts him on Twitter
Chael Sonnen has spent less than 24-hours as a light heavyweight contender and he has remained true to form, by picking a fight with the division’s champion, Jon Jones.
During his appearance on on Tuesday evening’s UFC Tonight, Sonnen talked about moving up to 205lbs for a fight with Forrest Griffin, but he also managed to took a pot shot at reigning Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, as we reported earlier: “Sure I could go up to 205 and I could take Jon Jones’ belt away, the same as I could take his candy on Halloween. He’s a little punk kid. I could snatch it away all I want, but there’s something to be said in sportsmanship for earning your shot, and on the 29th of December, I’m going to go through Forrest to do it.”
Jones took to Twitter today to go off on Sonnen with a barrage of tweets:

Jones faces one of Sonnen’s closest friends, Dan Henderson, at UFC 151 on September 1, 2012. Sonnen’s first fight in the 205 division will take place on December 29. Depending how far Sonnen makes it through the Light Heavyweight division to be considered to face Jones could make for an entertaining UFC event outside the Octagon for 2013.
