UFC on FX 2 Recap: Scoring issues mar Flyweight Tournament

Before the post-fight press conference for the UFC on FX 2 fight card began it appeared that the focus would most likely be on Martin Kampmann’s come from behind victory and the upcoming UFC Flyweight title bout between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez. However that was not to be, as one of the first things that was announced was the fact that there had been a error in the Johnson versus Ian McCall bout and the fight should have been a majority draw, which would have necessitated a sudden

UFC on FX1 Recap: Miller, Neer and Barry all earn first round stoppage victories

If you’re counting, exactly two of the 10 fights on Friday night’s fight card from Nashville went to decision. As many expected, the main event between Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller was not one of those two fights.
Before the fight both Guillard and Miller said that they would look to capitalize on the first mistake of their opponent. That first mistake came from Guillard, as he attempted to throw one to many flying knees and found himself deposited on his back via a Jim Miller takedown. From

Kenny Florian joins the UFC's live event coverage team

Last week, word came down that Kenny Florian might have to retire due to a lingering back injury. Florian told the Boston Herald, “I’m just kind of in a holding pattern. That’s why I decided to do this commentary for the time being and take this next six months to really heal up and try to make some money on the side.”
It seems as if that side job has become a little more lucrative and a lot busier as MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Florian will be joining Jon Anik as a member of

Kenny Florian: Back injury may force retirement

The last time we saw Kenny Florian inside the Octagon he was battling Jose Aldo for Aldo’s UFC Featherweight title.  It was Florian’s third shot at a UFC title and like his two previous attempts; Florian came out on the losing end, dropping a unanimous decision to Aldo.  Following the fight, a forlorn Florian would not speculate on his future as a fighter.
Florian’s decision on his future may be taken out of his hands as he recently revealed that a herniated disc in his back may

On October 8, 2011Kenny Florian fought Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight title. The bout was Florian’s third shot at a UFC title belt and after 25 minutes it was his third loss in a UFC title fight.

Florian fought once at the 185 pound limit, losing to Diego Sanchez at the Ultimate Fighter Season One finale. In his next fight he dropped to Welterweight, winning two fights there before dropping

George Lockhart has served in the Marine Corps for over nine years and has fought professionally for ten. He specializes in designing performance diets and has worked with the likes of Jon Jones, Brian Stann, and many other Greg Jackson fighters.
For UFC 131, George played a big role in helping Kenny Florian reach his goal of 145lbs for his debut Featherweight bout with Diego Nunes. I had the chance to chat with the Marine and he schooled us in the art of weight cutting.

Jonathan Chaimberg: Florian may be dropping weight classes but he’s actually getting stronger

Jonathan Chaimberg is considered one of the most respected strength and conditioning coaches in North America. He maybe young at the age of 32, but he has been training elite athletes and regular people for over ten years. The former Canadian national wrestler works very closely with Greg Jackson’s elite fighters, but most recently has been working very diligently with Kenny Florian making his Featherweight debut at UFC 131 in my hometown of Vancouver this Saturday.
