UFC 142 Prediction: Jose Aldo to make a statement against Mendes

Next Saturday, Jose Aldo will put his title on the line against Chad Mendes. Their match headlines the UFC’s second foray into Brazil, after a wildly successful first show earlier this year. Jose, whose list of conquered foes contains Urijah Faber and Mike Brown, will be putting his title on the line for the fifth time.
So what makes Chad “Money” Mendes different than Urijah Faber and Mike Brown? That’s the question I asked myself when breaking down the scrap between Aldo and

Strikeforce Rockhold vs. Jardine Recap: Luke Rockhold dominates on way to TKO victory

Heading into Saturday night most fans and pundits had Luke Rockhold as the favorite over Keith Jardine in Rockhold’s first defense of his Strikeforce Middleweight title.  With that being said, it’s doubtful that many had Rockhold breezing through the fight as easily as he did.
It seemed as if whenever Rockhold threw a strike it landed and the post-fight numbers reflected that as Rockhold connected on 75 percent of his strikes, especially those that ended the fight at the 4:26 mark of Round

UFC’s first Swedish fight card taking shape with six fights including Stann vs Sakara

The UFC will make its first trek to Sweden on April 14, 2012. The fight card will take place in Stockholm and according to MMAJunkie.com, it will air live on Fuel TV from the Ericsson Globe Arena beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

Jon Jones: I want to fight four times in 2012 and finish every opponent

During 2011 Jon Jones had one of the best years in MMA history, putting together a record of 4-0 and defeating some of the top names in the UFC’s Light Heavyweight division.
Jones started his 2011 run by defeating Ryan Bader via guillotine choke on February 5.  That victory earned him a shot to replace an injured Rashad Evans in a bout against then UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua. Jones dominated Rua,  earning the third round TKO victory at UFC 128, which took place on

Luke Rockhold: Keith Jardine does not deserve a title shot

On September 10, Luke Rockhold had his hand raised in victory after a five round bout with Ronaldo Souza, advancing his record to 8-1 and more importantly capturing the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship.
On Saturday, Rockhold will defend his title for the first time, facing Keith Jardine, who will be making his Middleweight debut in the title bout. The two will headline a Strikeforce card from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Jardine came to the fight after Rockhold’s

Brock Lesnar: A farewell to the former UFC Heavyweight Champ

If the words he spoke on Saturday night are to be believed, we have seen the last of Brock Lesnar in the Octagon.  In an MMA career that spanned just eight fights he accomplished more than some fighters do over much lengthier careers. Love him or hate him, you have to, even if it is begrudgingly, show some respect for what the man accomplished after joining the UFC after just one professional fight.
As Dana White recalled at the post UFC 131 press conference, “Brock Lesnar came to me one night

Satoshi Ishii is fighting for the future of JMMA against Fedor Emelianenko

If you’ve been following MMA for any amount of time you’ve surely heard the talk that Japanese MMA is on the decline. The fighters that have ventured outside of the Japanese circuit have not met with great success as of late.  Fighters such as Yoshihiro Akiyama, Michihiro Omigawa, Shinya Aoki, Kid Yamamoto and Takanori Gomi have all struggled outside of the confines of Japanese MMA. One young fighter has a chance to right that ship, Satoshi Ishii.

Brock Lesnar: I don’t think there’s a Heavyweight that has done what I’ve done in the UFC

Brock Lesnar is set to return to the Octagon on Friday when he welcomes Alistair Overeem to the UFC in the main event at UFC 141.  The fight will be Lesnar’s first since losing the UFC Heavyweight crown to Cain Velasquez back in October 2010.
Since losing the title, Lesnar underwent a tough stretch; being forced to withdraw from a scheduled fight against Junior dos Santos after suffering a second bout of diverticulitis. Now fully recovered from the surgery that removed a section of his
