Bellator Heavyweight champion Cole Konrad (9-0 MMA, 7-0 BFC) has retired, the promotion announced today. Konrad walks away from MMA with an unblemished record and is set to become an agriculture commodities trader specializing in dairy products.
The Wisconsin-native stated: “This decision has been on my mind for a while, and the time was finally right to make the move.”

Bellator Fighting Championship concluded their 2012 Summer Series with Bellator 73. In the main event, Light Heavyweight Attila Vegh knocked out Travis Wiuff 25 seconds into the first round. Last week, we reported that Bellator Featherweight champion Pat Curran (17-4 MMA, 7-1 BFC) was forced to withdraw from this Friday’s card due to a broken orbital bone. Today Bellator announced that his opponent, Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (17-1 MMA, 5-1 BFC), also been pulled from the Bellator 73 card as well.
