Chael Sonnen: Not one day of Anderson Silva’s life has he been the best fighter in the world

Today Chael Sonnen had some more choice words to fuel the fire leading up to his hyped rematch with Anderson Silva in Las Vegas July 7. In an interview with tatame.com, he explained the exact nature of his rivalry with UFC Middleweight champion Silva, and answered why he has been bad-mouthing Brazil. When asked why he says the things he does about Brazil, Sonnen replied:
“Why don’t you ask Anderson why he let me say those things about you guys for so long? Why don’t you guys ask Anderson

Alistair Overeem denied license by NSAC for nine months

The soap opera of Alistair Overeem’s failed drug test from the UFC 146 press conference came to a decisive close today in Las Vegas, and the results were not favorable for the former title contender and his team. He was handed down a nine month suspension from the Commission. Overeem’s defense of taking an anti-inflammatory injection which, unbeknownst to Overeem, contained testosterone did not suffice. The commissioners were stern in dealing with Overeem from the beginning, not granting a continuance

Dana White says Anderson Silva is still the number one pound-for-pound fighter, and probably the best ever

In the barrage of news coverage that surfaced after UFC 145, the inevitable debate of who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world gained a lot of steam with Jon Jones’ victory over number one contender Rashad Evans.
Many believe Jones has overtaken Anderson Silva as the pound-for-pound king due to the sheer volume of top-level opponents that he has bested in the last year. However many also believe that Anderson Silva and his UFC-record winning streak are enough to keep him at the top of the

Dan Henderson: I will fight my fight against Jon Jones

Dan “Hendo” Henderson came out today with a few comments about his strategy to defeat Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight championship. Never one to beat around the bush, Henderson was frank in his discussion about the title fight at this weekend’s UFC 145. While Jones did not finish the former champion Rashad Evans as he had three previous champions, he utilized accurate strikes to keep Evans well outside of his range. That is not the way to be successful against a fighter like Jon Jones

Michael Bisping: I will beat Chael Sonnen in a rematch for the title

Recently, UK MMA star Michael Bisping came out with a bold claim. Never known to be the most soft-spoken of fighters, he believes that Chael Sonnen will indeed best Anderson Silva in Rio (or wherever the fight actually happens). He will then beat Sonnen in a rematch upon being given an immediate title shot. Bisping lost a hotly-contested bout versus Sonnen on UFC on Fox 2 earlier this year. Some thought he won the fight, others vehemently denied this. Bisping was quoted with the following via

Lorenzo Fertitta reacts to controversial caption posted online

Last Saturday, a highly controversial caption appeared online that while perhaps intended as humor, seemed to insinuate that UFC President Dana White was such a fan of Jon Jones, that he had bet an exorbitant sum of money on him to retain the title at UFC 145 in Atlanta, Georgia. Understandably, number-one contender Rashad Evans reacted with anger upon hearing these allegations. While the site did issue a retraction, there still has been much fallout that could ultimately have legal ramifications.

Chael Sonnen: Alistair Overeem did not test positive for anything

Tuesday night Chael Sonnen came to the defense of under-fire Heavyweight Alistair Overeem, who awaits the decision of NSAC concerning his license to fight at UFC 146. Blaming the media, Sonnen essentially considered Overeem’s issue to be an overblown phenomenon created by MMA media. Familiar with the issue of elevated T:E levels, Sonnen had the following to say on Fuel TV’s “UFC Tonight”:
“Congratulations to MMA media, right when I think you’re incompetence can’t get to any higher level, the

Dana White fires back at Ben Askren on Twitter

On Monday, Ben Askren tweeted a very vocal response to Dana White’s insistence that it would be difficult to test all of his fighters due to a lack of resources. Labeling White’s statement a “bold-faced lie,” Askren elicited quite the response from the UFC President:
“When ambien can’t sleep it takes Ben Askren. The most boring fighter in MMA history. I would rather watch flysf**k.” – credit: Twitter via bloodyelbow.com
This situation does not bode well for the Bellator champion

United Nations conference may change date of Anderson Silva – Chael Sonnen II

The absolute barrage of news centering around UFC President Dana White continues today with the announcement that the UFC 147 battle between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen may have to be moved to a different date.  The possible date change comes due to a meeting of the United Nations in Rio that week, which could cause major planning conflicts and confusion.  White is no doubt working vehemently with officials in Rio de Janeiro to get a set date, and was quoted:“We’re working on it,
