Many MMA fans were salivating when they heard that Takanori Gomi was coming to the octagon. Six fights into his tenure, and most of those same fans are looking less optimistic than they were before. At three wins and three losses apiece, many have written off Gomi as just another promising fighter playing gatekeeper at 155 pounds. All of his losses (Kenny Florian, Clay Guida, Nate Diaz) have been by submission, and these losses were, for the most part, very one-sided. See
With his impressive submission victory over Rick Story last weekend at UFC 153, Demian Maia regained a lot of credit for his return to his roots of BJJ. The finish not only garnered him a victory in his new weight class of Welterweight, but it immediately put all 170 lb. fighters in the UFC on notice that Maia could be a force to be reckoned with. While it was not the result the fans were looking for, it was a great fight to watch as the preliminaries in Sweden came to a close.

Instead what they tend to receive is a stand up battle, where the fighters look to showcase the fact that they
It’s been well over a year since Sean Sherk last stepped into the Octagon. Sherk’s last fight was a split decision victory over Evan Dunham at UFC 119, which took place on September 25, 2010. His previous fight had been a unanimous decision loss to Frankie Edgar in May 2009. The reason behind the gap between those two fights was injuries that forced Sherk from three separate fight cards.
Sherk told MMAJunkie.com that he wanted to fight in 2011, but again his 38 year old body had
