History of Violence: The highs and lows of "The Axe Murderer"

Violence. That is the first thought that pops into the head of any long-time fan of MMA when it comes to Wanderlei Silva. Unbridled, rampant, bloody, violence. The thought is both good and bad for him, as he is not the only to one to inflict pain when entering the ring/cage with another man. From 1996 to the present day of MMA, one of the things you can guarantee is a Silva fight will consist of him moving forward and looking for the finish. Whether he achieved that finish, or turned into a victim himself w

Frank Mir used TRT while training for UFC 146

News recently broke that UFC 146 Heavyweight title challenger Frank Mir had received a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) prior to the bout. Confirmed by NSAC commissioner Keith Kizer, Mir was said to have T:E levels of roughly 1:1. This is a far cry from Alistair Overeem’s levels, the man whom he replaced in the bout. Overeem did not use TRT as a defense for his failed drug test and registered at 14:1 T:E levels.

Rashad Evans: I hope Jon Jones can move forward from his arrest

Appearing on “UFC Tonight,” Rashad Evans had some comments on his rival Jon Jones’s recent arrest for DWI and subsequent plea bargain. The comments made by Evans are not in the nature one would think. Evans stated he was not surprised by the May 19th incident:

It is clear he is wasting no time on making an impact on the UFC. However, no news was as relevant as the statement Dana White gave yesterday,

The fight has now been rescheduled to take place in Las Vegas as the headlining bout at the ultra-stacked UFC 148 card July 7. The longtime champ Silva, however, wanted the chance to have revenge on Chael Sonnen in his home country, whose people feel so disrespected and insulted by

Dan Henderson: I will fight my fight against Jon Jones

Dan “Hendo” Henderson came out today with a few comments about his strategy to defeat Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight championship. Never one to beat around the bush, Henderson was frank in his discussion about the title fight at this weekend’s UFC 145. While Jones did not finish the former champion Rashad Evans as he had three previous champions, he utilized accurate strikes to keep Evans well outside of his range. That is not the way to be successful against a fighter like Jon Jones

Lorenzo Fertitta reacts to controversial caption posted online

Last Saturday, a highly controversial caption appeared online that while perhaps intended as humor, seemed to insinuate that UFC President Dana White was such a fan of Jon Jones, that he had bet an exorbitant sum of money on him to retain the title at UFC 145 in Atlanta, Georgia. Understandably, number-one contender Rashad Evans reacted with anger upon hearing these allegations. While the site did issue a retraction, there still has been much fallout that could ultimately have legal ramifications.
