Wanderlei Silva vs. Chris Leben set for UFC 132 in July

It appears Middleweights Chris Leben and Wanderei Silva will get what they’ve been asking for, as the two are now set to meet at UFC 132 in July. The match-up was announced Monday via UFC.com. Talks of the two sluggers meeting first began following Leben’s impressive submission victory over Yoshirio Akiyama at UFC 116. Afterward, “The Crippler” asked for a shot at Silva, whom he had stepped in for when an injury forced the Brazilian out of the bout with Akiyama just two weeks ahead of the match-up.

The Greatest Champions of the Sport.

The sport of Mixed Martial Arts has seen many great fighters and champions come and go, but only a few have cemented a legacy for the ages. I have selected five fighters, from their own respective divisions, that have not only claimed a title but shaped the sport as well. I did not add the Featherweight or the Bantamweight divisions due to the fact that most casual fans are not aware of their existence, and the divisions are relativity new compared to the five major weight divisions.

Who’s the right “Ace” to defeat “The Joker” Jon Jones?

After just three years of MMA competition, Jon “Bones” Jones became the youngest Champion in UFC’s history. Jones defeated the PRIDE legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in an impressive fashion to become the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, proving everyone once again that “the hype is real”. The Greg Jackson product is currently 7-1 in his Ultimate Fighting Championship campaign, defeating Andre Gusmao, Stephan Bonnar, Jake O’Brien, Brandon Vera, Vladimir Matyushenko and Ryan Bader on his way to the triumph

UFC 128: What Shogun Rua has to offer against Jon Jones

At the age of 20 years old, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua made his professional Mixed Martial Arts debut. He dominated and destroyed his first four opponents, until he met crafty veteran Renato “Babalu” Sobral to whom he lost via guillotine choke. That first loss in Shogun’s career was an important lesson and agony of defeat was used as motivation for victory.

UFC 130: Rampage vs. Hamill, is it the fight you want to see?

To get one step closer to the Light Heavyweight title picture, the UFC originally booked a very dangerous Thiago Silva to test Jackson at UFC 130. However, with Thiago possibly failing his drug test from UFC 125, the promotion had to find a replacement. There was a moment when it looked like Jackson would face his rival Rashad Evans in a rematch. However with Rashad suffering from injury and pulling out of his title match with Shogun, the UFC turned to Matt Hamill…..

Blogkick: The Top 10 Fighters of All Time

Now I won’t even begin to preach this list as matter of fact. As with more or less any top 10 list, it is completely subjective and unique to the person making it, and there is no list that everyone will be able to agree on, especially on such a debatable topic as the one I’m about to delve into. However, i have tried to be as fair as possible and take each fighter’s accomplishments into account with as equal measure as his counterparts. And that is mostly what my list is attempting to reflect:

Blogkick: The ROFL Files; Funny MMA Quotes

In my efforts to compile a list of “Stupid MMA Quotes” for my most recent article I unearthed many other quotations that I would have liked to include but that didn’t quite qualify as “stupid”. Some were inspirational, others rekindled memories of legendary fights of the past but my favourite quotes were the ones that made me laugh. Since the previous article was well received I have decided to create a second collection of my favourite MMA quotes; The ROFL Files.
