The month of November marks the anniversary of the UFC’s Denver, CO debut back in 1993. On that fateful night, an event that was at the time regarded as a brutal spectacle more than a true sport launched something that would grow into much more. Royce Gracie dominated those early events (although ultimately not the first), but now fighters have evolved into something altogether well-rounded. MMA is a worldwide phenomenon, with UFC events popping up all over the world as they continue to expand in rapid
It appears that, with his time in the limelight seemingly winding down, Quinton “Rampage’ Jackson has taken great offense to the man who has taken his spot as the trash-talking king, Chael P. Sonnen. Forced out of his bout with Glover Teixeira at UFC 153, Jackson has since campaigned to make that fight happen once again. However, many are doubting if Rampage can return to the once high level he competed at for several years, and Teixeira is a man with momentum on his side. Rampage appeared on
In a series of post-fight interviews courtesy of FuelTV.com, UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva describes his brutal performance in destroying Stephan Bonnar last night. Noting that his coaches wanted him to switch positons to avoid the wrestling of Bonnar, Silva told them to calm down, because he is a Jedi. With his UFC win streak at an unbelievable 16 fights, Silva touched on the topic of his oft-discussed superfight with Georges St. Pierre, who faces Carlos Condit next month in Montreal.

It is no secret that UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones has lost several fans in the aftermath of the cancellation of UFC 151. Many blamed Jones for the event’s demise for backing out of an impromptu fight with former Middleweight challenger Chael Sonnen. While he agreed to fight later in the month against Lyoto Machida and ultimately Vitor Belfort after Machida changed his mind, Dana White was quick to rush and blame Jones and his camp for being completely at fault. There are tons of details
Now that the headlining bout of Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch for the UFC Featherweight title is set in stone, UFC 153 from Rio’s undercard is starting to take shape with a recent announcement. First off, perennial Welterweight contender and long-time second fiddle to GSP Jon Fitch will take on surging young contender Erick Silva. Fitch has much to prove after suffering a devastating knockout loss to Johny Hendricks late last December, in a fight were he to win, it would have hard to deny him another shot at the
Former UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson had some harsh words for Forrest Griffin and Chael Sonnen recently. Being of the opinion that Tito Ortiz won his farewell bout instead of Griffin, Rampage said: “Tito won. Forrest even knew it, that’s why he ran out of the cage like a little crybaby like he always do. Come on. Somebody told him, ‘Forrest, get your ass back to the cage! You won, idiot! We’re gonna give it to you!’ Stupid, man.”Regarding the
Edson Barboza (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) is one of eight finalists in the 2012 ESPY Awards. An ESPY Award (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) is an accolade presented by ESPN to recognize outstanding individual and team athletic achievement. Barboza has been nominated for his wheelhouse kick knock out of Terry Etim at UFC 142 in Brazil this past January.
To say Barboza is elated would be the understatement of the year. His kick earned him a pair of bonuses for both “Knockout of the Night”
At UFC 148, Tito Ortiz will step into the Octagon for the final time as a fighter. Much has been written about Ortiz’s farewell bout and his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 7, but what of his opponent, Forrest Griffin? In an exclusive interview with our good friend: Bryan Levick at Fightline.com, the Georgia native discusses Tito Ortiz, Shogun Rua and his own future.

News recently broke that UFC 146 Heavyweight title challenger Frank Mir had received a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) prior to the bout. Confirmed by NSAC commissioner Keith Kizer, Mir was said to have T:E levels of roughly 1:1. This is a far cry from Alistair Overeem’s levels, the man whom he replaced in the bout. Overeem did not use TRT as a defense for his failed drug test and registered at 14:1 T:E levels.
The news comes as yet another example of a recent
