Just as the announcement came that Chris Leben will make his awaited return at UFC 155 this December, it has been announced that two Middleweight contenders who have met before will face off at the year-end card. Alan Belcher, whose plans to fight Vitor Belfort at UFC 153 fell apart when he found out he had a spinal fracture and Belfort stepped in to fight Jon Jones at UFC 152, will face Yushin Okami in a rematch.
Interestingly enough, Belcher and Okami fought one another in their respective UFC
In this video from Xyience.com, UFC Middleweight Mark Munoz chronicles his return from the elbow surgery that derailed him from a possible number-one contender’s spot earlier this year. Munoz is never one to dwell on the past however, and says he has been training to get back to the shape he was in when he destroyed Chris Leben in England last fall. After his time off, he was up to 240 lbs. with a long road ahead to make 185. His training team at Reign has much to do with his success. Munoz will now
Top Middleweight contender Mark Munoz, who was last seen in action defeating Chris Leben in November, discusses the injury that forced him out of UFC on Fox 2, as well as who he would like to fight upon his return. Munoz also responds to recent remarks made by Michael Bisping, and shares his thoughts on a potential match-up with the Brit.
The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV has been a staple of mixed martial arts for 7 years, and in that time frame we’ve seen pretty much everything. Chris Leben entered our hearts with some smack talking, glass punching, and a little bit of pee. Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz brought the term “bad blood” to a whole new level. Dave Kaplan thought it was a good idea to a take a flush shot to the jaw from Tom Lawlor, which was incredibly entertaining. Junie Browning… I don’t really have to explain that one do I? Dus
Ok since Anderson Silva Will be out until at least Febuary I though we could all take a look at the middleweight division of the UFC and try to sort this stuff out. First off lets look at the top contenders of the division, here are my top 8 in no particular order (excluding Anderson Silva)
1. Chael Sonnen
2. Nate Marquardt
3. Yushin Okami
4. Vitor Belfort
5. Demian Maia
6. Chris Leben
7. Wanderlei Silva
8. Alan Belcher
Ok so I do not think Chael will get an instant rematch nor do I think he deserves it.
The Nevada state athletic commission has released a report that the fighters that took part at UFC 116 which took place on July 3rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, have all tested negative for steroids.
This is good news for fight fans as some of the fighters have a steroid history, Chris Leben tested positive when he fought Michael Bisping and was given a six month suspension. This was Leben second time fighting in about 2 weeks where he scored an upset third round submission of Akiyama.
