UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami Compustrike review

Last Saturday, the main event for UFC 134 between Anderson Silva & Yushin Okami for the UFC Middleweight title was an epic display of pure domination. Whatever gameplan Okami had prior to the fight went out the window and he didn’t stand a chance against Ando. Together with our friends at Compustrike, let’s take a closer look at the stats from UFC 134’s main event.
Anderson Silva landed 43/57 (75%) strikes the whole fight compared to Yushin Okami’s 18/50 (36%). 29 of

Exclusive Interview with UFC Connected’s Showdown Joe Ferraro (Part Two)

Note: If you haven’t read part one of this exclusive and candid interview with “Showdown” Joe Ferraro, you can read it here! http://lowkick.blitzcorner.com/UFC/Part-One-Exclusive-Interview-with-UFC-Connecteds-Showdown-Joe-Ferraro-13514
For those outside of Canada, Joe Ferraro for many years was a “jack of all trades”. One of the hardest working people around that has helped legitimize the sport in Canada and legalize it in the province of Ontario. Not only did Joe wear the commentary headset for events,

Exclusive Interview with UFC Connected’s Showdown Joe Ferraro (Part One)

“Showdown” Joe Ferraro has been involved with Mixed Martial Arts for over thirteen years. Growing up as a kid in Vancouver, I knew Joe through TSN (Canada’s ESPN) during his time commentating for APEX Fighting Championship and many other Canadian promotions at the time. What I didn’t know at the time was that Joe was a “jack of all trades”, one of the hardest working people in the sport that helped legitimize it in Canada and legalize it in the province of Ontario. Not only did Joe Ferraro wear the

Jeremy Stephens vs. Anthony Pettis added to a stacked UFC 136 card

It’s only been two weeks since UFC 132 and it seems already seems like an eternity since we’ve seen elite Mixed Martial Arts action. The next big event in the month of July will be Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Hendo, but so far October will be a month for must see MMA. UFC 136 is already shaping up to be a spectacular fight card stacked with many high profile names. To add to the very stellar event, UFC president Dana White has announced on UFC.com that both Jeremy Stephens and Anthony Pettis have verbally

Could TRT become a common issue in MMA?

When Nate Marquardt was pulled out of the UFC on Versus 4 main event last weekend, I was shocked to say the least. I just talked Nate a few weeks ago regarding his main event fight with Rick Story and he sounded like he was ready. He said his cut to welterweight was going well and he sounded more than capable to take the challenge Rick Story would have provided him. Then from left field on the day of the weigh-ins, UFC president Dana White drops a huge bomb, and set the Twitter on fire. He releases a video

Karyn Bryant: It takes much more than that to horrify me (Exclusive Interview)

MMA H.E.A.T.’s Karyn Bryant never thought her UFC 130 post-fight  interview with the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will spark a big debate in the Mixed Martial Arts community. Many journalists found Rampage Jackson’s “motorboat” expression a disgrace to the sport, suggesting that the UFC President Dana White should punish Jackson.
We went directly to the source (or at least one side of it), asking Karyn Bryant about motors, boats, Rampage Jackson, superheroes

The Greatest Champions of the Sport.

The sport of Mixed Martial Arts has seen many great fighters and champions come and go, but only a few have cemented a legacy for the ages. I have selected five fighters, from their own respective divisions, that have not only claimed a title but shaped the sport as well. I did not add the Featherweight or the Bantamweight divisions due to the fact that most casual fans are not aware of their existence, and the divisions are relativity new compared to the five major weight divisions.
