Michael Page Draws Comparison to Anderson Silva in UCMMA Debut

Two fighters made their professional MMA debuts at the recent UCMMA event, Michael Page and Ben Dishman.
The fight did not last long, but Page displayed an overwhelming amount of confidence on his way to victory.  The announcers for the fight compared Page’s performance to Apollo Creed from the Rocky films as well as referring to him as a “UK Anderson Silva.”
Following the fight Page claimed, “There’s a lot more to come from me.”

Chael Sonnen walks around with a replica UFC belt, says Anderson Silva is a fraud

In just a few days Chael Sonnen will face Michael Bisping in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC on FOX 2 fight card. As with most UFC cards, the days before the event are full of media responsibilities, today Sonnen appeared on Dan Le Batard’s show, “Dan Le Batard is…Highly Questionable.”
When Sonnen appeared on camera one thing became immediately clear, he had taken his claim that he is the UFC Middleweight Champion to another level, as he had a UFC belt hanging over his

Anderson Silva: I don’t see anyone in Brazil that can beat Jon Jones

When looking at the UFC’s Light Heavyweight division at a macro level many have posited that, at this time, there are not any fighters out there that could beat the current Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones.
One person that looked at the Light Heavyweight division at a more micro level was UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Silva, recently spoke to Portal TV about his feelings on how Brazilian fighters would fare against Jon Jones. “There’s not much to say about Jon Jones. I don’t see any

Anderson Silva reveals he is suffering from a back injury

The last time MMA fans saw Anderson Silva inside the Octagon he defeated Yushin Okami by TKO in the second round of UFC 134’s main event. Following that event Silva admitted that he had suffered a shoulder injury while training for that fight.  That injury had kept Silva from training since the conclusion of that fight on August 27, 2011.
Silva recently began training again, but it looks as if he has suffered another injury. According to the UFC Middleweight champion, “I’m not sure

Chael Sonnen returns to TSN’s OTR, says Anderson Silva is yesterday’s news

If a microphone or camera was anywhere near Sonnen he would use it as an opportunity to disparage the Middleweight Champion and many of his training partners. The goal, according to Sonnen, was to pick a fight with Silva.
Having failed to get that fight it seems as if Sonnen has turned his attention elsewhere, “I’m done with the guy. He and I have no business. This guy is

Jake Shields would love a chance to fight Anderson Silva

Former Strikeforce Middleweight champion Jake Shields was on quite a roll when he joined the UFC in October of last year, entering the promotion on a winning streak of 15 fights, while going 25-4-1 over his career.
In his first UFC bout, contested at the Welterweight limit, Shields defeated Martin Kampmann via split decision. That win earned him a shot at UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. St. Pierre defeated Shields by unanimous decision, but during the course of the bout Shields did do

Five Middleweights who could beat Anderson Silva

Chael Sonnen’s comments in his recent interview with Ariel Helwani on MMAFighting.com got me thinking. The always animated and controversial UFC Middleweight made comments regarding pound for pound rankings. Now I know rankings are purely subjective, based on fans and writers personal opinions, backed up of course by statistics. But for these “fantasy” rankings, there is one thing that almost all writers, fans, and so called experts can agree with. Anderson Silva is on

Ron Kruck of HDNet catches up with UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva during the grand opening of the Black House gym in San Diego, California. Silva discusses the facility, as well as the various teams who come together as one big “family.” Silva says he is happy with his win over Vitor Belfort, but says he is focused only on preparing for the future. He also talks about the potential “superfight” with Georges St. Pierre, who he considers one of the best fighters in the world.
