Sage Northcutt Denies Steroid Accusations: I’ve Been Dieting For 15 Years
Rising 19-year-old phenom and UFC lightweight “Super” Sage Nortchutt has the physique that many dream of, leading his UFC Fight Night 80 (December 10, 2015) opponent, Cody Pfister, to accuse the Texas native of taking steroids.
Speaking with Yahoo! Sports, however, Northcutt denied the accusations, even going as far to say that he takes it as a compliment. “Super” Sage attributed his progress to clean eating and hard work from extremely early on:
“I don’t care that (Pfister) said that. That’s a major compliment to me. I’m very thankful they’re saying stuff like that. It’s very nice of them. But I know how hard I’ve trained since I was a little kid. I’ve been dieting for 15 years. I’ve been on strict diets the whole time and eating right and training hard the whole time. I’ve worked to be where I am right now. Since I was 4, I’ve been eating egg whites, fish, grilled chicken, rice, vegetables, super lean hamburger meat, foods like that, ever since I was just a little kid. I was drinking protein shakes back then.”
Both men should have been tested by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) leading up to their scrap which will go down in just two days from Las Vegas, Nevada.
This Thursday will mark only the second Octagon performance for Northcutt, but the young star has received a ton of hype, promotion, and attention.
Will “Super” Sage be able to keep the momentum going against “The Pfist”?
