Ryan Bader vs. Ovince St. Preux Set To Headline UFC Fight Night 47 In Maine
Fresh of their wins at UFC 174 this weekend, top ten light-heavyweight’s Ryan Bader and Ovince St. Preux have agreed to meet later this year in the headliner of the UFC’s debut in Maine.
The matchup between the top light-heavyweights was first reported by bangornewsdaily.com. UFC officials have subsequently confirmed the bout which will take place on August 16.
UFC Fight Night 47 is set to go down in the Cross Insurance Center for the promotion’s first trip to Bangor, Maine. Only three other bouts have been made official for the card so far, the following matchup’s have already been booked: Brad Tavares vs. Tim Boetsch, Shawn Jordan vs. Jack May and Sam Alvey vs. Tom Watson.
UFN 47 is expected to be available to watch on Fox Sports 1 as well as UFC Fight Pass. Going into the bout, Bader is currently ranked at No.8 and OSP sits at No.10 in the official UFC rankings.
Both men are making a quick return to the Octagon after emerging victorious and relatively unharmed in their fights at UFC 174. Bader fought former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Rafael Cavalcante at the event and took a unanimous decision win while St. Preux squared off against Ryan Jimmo. OSP went in to snap Jimmo’s arm.
St. Preux will be looking to extend his current five fight win streak against Bader after emerging victorious in his first four fights in the Octagon. The Strikeforce vet made his UFC debut last April where he took a points win over Gian Villante.
OSP followed up his win over Villante with first round finishes over Cody Donovan and Nikita Krylov. He topped that off this weekend with his stoppage against Jimmo.
Bader will be looking to extend his current two-fight winning streak after taking unanimous decisions over “Fejiao” this weekend and Anthony Perosh in December. The TUF 8 winners decision wins have got him back into contention following a TKO loss to Glover Teixeira in December.
