Ruslan Magomedov Extends Win Streak To Nine With Win Over Shawn Jordan
Coming into UFC 192, Shawn Jordan (18-7) had a three-fight winning streak. To extend it to four, he need to overcome Ruslan Magomedov (14-1).
At the end of the night it was “Leopard’s” streak that was extended to nine.
The two heavyweights touched gloves to start. As Jordan was rushing in, Magomedov landed some counter punches to keep his opponent at bay. “The Savage” had “Leopard” pressed against the fence and eventually took him down. Magomedov escaped using a kimura lock. Jordan connected with a leg kick. Magomedov landed some solid punches after throwing a head kick. Magomedov showed off his crisp striking in the final moments of the round.
Early in the second frame, Jordan tagged “Leopard,” but he was able to avoid danger. Commentator Joe Rogan pointed out that Shawn Jordan said in his corner at the break that he may have had a broken rib. Jordan looked to have had the toe of Magomedov catch his eye. “The Savage” blocked a head kick and eventually Magomedov had his opponent pressed against the fence until the horn sounded.
Jordan came out swinging in round three. He worked hard for a takedown, but Magomedov was able to stay on his feet. Magomedov threw out a spinning back kick. Cuts former under both of Jordan’s eyes. “”Leopard” missed a question mark kick. “The Savage” got in a solid leg kick. Jordan landed an uppercut with his back against the fence. The final horn sounded and the decision was academic.
Final Result: Ruslan Magomedov def. Shawn Jordan via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)
