Roy Nelson: Fight With Me & Brock Lesnar Would Break UFC PPV Record
Roy Nelson, who fights Derrick lewis at UFC Fight Night 90 on July 7th in Las Vegas, Nevada, has always been outspoken.
But he’s taken it to a newl level now, as the popular heavyweight is calling out former champ Brock Lesnar, who fights Mark Hunt at UFC 200 on July 9th, for a fight down the line.
According to Nelson, he thinks a fight with Lesnar would not only beat out the pay-per-view buyrate of UFC 200 but also UFC 100, which is the biggest buyrate that a UFC PPV event has ever done.
“After I get through Derrick (Lewis) and Brock still wants to fight, I’ll definitely fight and it will probably be the biggest pay-per-view of all time. We’ll blow Conor McGregor, UFC 100 and even UFC 200 out of the water.”
“Because of our styles, the style I fight, Brock Lesnar’s name and the way I market myself and now with the UFC push behind me, it would get pushed to a whole new freaking level,” Nelson told FOX Sports. “I’d definitely take that fight. It’s definitely a money fight. In the heavyweight division, that’s the Conor McGregor,” Nelson said. “He just brings a whole other audience. It would be like Tom Cruise if Tom Cruise said he wanted to fight or Shaquille O’Neal, it’s just somebody that’s so out there and well known.”
Nelson might want to win his fight against Lewis and then wait and see how Lesnar does against Hunt. It’s not clear if Lesnar even plans to fight again after UFC 200.
