Ronda Rousey Says She Would Fight Fallon Fox

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey spoke yesterday with The New York Post and weighed in on the controversial subject of transgender fighter Fallon Fox and her thoughts on Matt Mitrione’s recent comments on the issue that got his UFC contract suspended. Although the armbar queen was very strong in her opinion on Fox having a physical advantage because she was born a man, she stated that if The UFC wanted her to fight Fox, she would definitely do it. She did, however, go on to say “”She can try hormones, chop her pecker off, but it’s still the same bone structure a man has….It’s an advantage. I don’t think it’s fair.”

The champ is no stranger to competing against gender questionable opponents as she says she competed in Judo against hermaphroditic athletes but “that was something they didn’t choose…It’s not something that happened to her (Fox)….It was a decision she made. She should be aware in her career after that, it’s going to be an arduous path. I don’t know why she’s surprised by that. It’s going to draw a lot of emotions.”

All in all though, Rousey said she is supportive of the UFC’s decision to suspend Mitrione on his recent comments he had made with Ariel Helwani on “The MMA Hour” and that his choice of words were “extremely poor”.  She touched on the issue by stating “I understand the UFC doesn’t want to be associated with views like that…I’m also glad they didn’t straight cut him.”

Rousey continued, “What if she became UFC champion and we had a transgender women’s champion?. It’s a very socially difficult situation.”
