Ronda Rousey Opens As Early Favorite Against Amanda Nunes

Ronda Rouseyn

Well, fans can stop speculating when former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will be returning to action.

As we previously reported on the site, UFC President Dana White announced while on The Herd on FOX Sports 1 today that Rousey, who has not fought since losing the title to Holly Holm back at UFC 193 in November of 2015, will return to action to fight current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 for the title. This will be the main event of UFC 207.

Nunes (13-4) is currently on a four fight winning streak and is 5-1 in her last six bouts. She beat Miesha Tate at UFC 200 by first round submission to win the title. Rousey, on the other hand, was on a winning streak of her own until she was devastated by Holm, who head kicked her into a one-year absence from the world famous octagon.

With the news just hours old, early betting odds for the fight were released. Rousey is a 3-1 (-320) favorite over against striking specialist Nunes, which might surprise fans seeing how Rousey did against Holm in her last bout as Holm is a striking specialist just like Nunes.

UFC 207 takes place on December 30th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The prelims will air on UFC Fight Pass and FOX Sports 1 while the main card will air on pay-per-view. No other bouts have been announced for this event as of this writing.
