Robert Whittaker’s fiery UFC 308 breakdown: ‘Khamzat Chimaev can’t beat my striking – I’ll stuff his takedowns and break him’
Former undisputed middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker has offered a rather one-sided breakdown this this weekend’s UFC 308 co-main event return against the unbeaten, Khamzat Chimaev, claiming he will “break” the Chechen when they finally share the Octagon.
Whittaker, the current number three ranked middleweight challenger, most recently featured in the main event of UFC Fight Night Saudi Arabia back in the summer, landing a stunning opening round knockout win over short-notice replacement and common-foe, Ikram Aliskerov in their short-notice main event feature.
As for Chimaev, the current number twelve ranked challenger has been out of action for a year by the time his UFC 308 co-headliner rolls around, most recently improving to 13-0 with a controversial majority decision win over former undisputed welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman.

And offering a rather definitive breakdown and prediction of sorts ahead of his weekend return against the unbeaten, Chimaev, former champion, Whittaker claims he will deny any takedowns from the Chechen challenger when they come at UFC 308, vowing to “break him” when they fight.
“If I give him a chance, he’ll kill me, but I take confidence because of how well-rounded I am,” Robert Whittaker said of his fight with Khamzat Chimaev during the UFC Countdown episode. “I’m exceptional at it all. I’m faster, I’m a better striker and I have better instincts. I’m a hard guy to take down. I am confident that my skills are better than his.”
“This isn’t a wrestling match,” Robert Whittaker explained. “This is an MMA fight. I’m going to look to stuff his takedowns and I’m going to beat him up. The fight with Chimaev is going to take all my focus and all my willpower and I’m going to get in there and I’m going to rip him.”
