Last week UFC megastar Conor McGregor announced his ‘retirement’ from the sport on social media. However, that won’t stop McGregor & Khabib from mixing it up on social media.

This weekend, McGregor took to Twitter to reply to one of Khabib’s tweets where he looked back on his championship win. McGregor then claimed all it did was get ‘his money took and his brother’s eye socket shook’ in the infamous UFC 229 post-fight brawl. He also hyped an upcoming party in Las Vegas:

“You got your money took and your brothers eye socket shook when you fought me you little rat. Viva Las Vegas baby the gaf always wins. Big stomper party in the Wynn coming soon!”

Khabib Fires Back

Khabib caught wind of the tweet and responded early this morning. In his, he said the honor McGregor lost in his defeat would never come back. He also claimed McGregor was just a ‘Twitter warrior’:

“@TheNotoriousMMA money comes and goes, the honor that you lost that evening will never return, live with it. Finish career in mma, but start career on twitter?”

Empty Talk?

Ever since Khabib dominated McGregor over the course of four rounds at UFC 229, talk of an immediate rematch has been swirling. But many believe it’s not realistic, as ‘The Notorious’ simply had too little for Khabib to justify an immediate run-back.

Either way, McGregor is currently under investigation for rape allegations in his native Dublin and was also arrested on strong-arm robbery and criminal mischief charges earlier this month. He’s not likely to fight soon despite reports having him returning during July’s International Fight Week. That’s all up in the air for now.

As for Khabib, Dana White recently said he will return this September. His opponent is unknown, but you’d think it would be the winner of the Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier interim lightweight title fight at April 13’s UFC 236.
