Confirmed: Holly Holm Injured, Off UFC 181 Card
News from Brazil is that Holly Holm is injured and off the UFC 181 card……
Former boxing world champion Holly Holm entered the UFC earlier this year behind a lot of hype. With the women’s bantamweight division seemingly a one horse race, her arrival n the promotion as an undefeated (7-0) MMA prospect sparked a fair amount of speculation and debate. Holm was booked in to face Raquel Pennington in Las Vegas, Nevada, at UFC 181 on December 6th this year.
Well, according to MMAByNeko, and translated by yours truly, “The Preacher’s Daughter” has sustained an injury, and is no longer able to fight in December:
“”Determined by the team , the former world champion and former Boxing champion Holly Holm Legacy FC was injured and could not face Raquel Pennington at UFC 181 , scheduled for 06 December 2014 , in Las Vegas ( USA ) . The UFC has not defined who will be the replacement of Holm .”
AT this stage, Holm’s camp are yet to confirm the injury news to any major news sites, but this doesn’t look good, providing it’s true. The immediate impact on the women’s bantamweight division isn’t exactly devastating, but another injury on another big card is negative, no doubt.
“TPD” has been on fire in her young MMA career thus far, most recently winning the Legacy FC bantamweight title by booting Julia Werner’s head in to the front row. I’ll keep you updated as this breaking story evolves.
