Rumor: Daniel Cormier Meets Anderson Silva At UFC 200
UFC President Dana White confirmed earlier today (July 7, 2016) that light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier would remain on this Saturday’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 card from Las Vegas, Nevada even after his main event bout with ex-champion Jon Jones fell through due to a possible anti-doping violation by Jones.
White had claimed that he had spent all day working on a possible replacement for Jones and according to a report from Combate, it appears as if the UFC boss has found one, although it’s likely not who you had expected:

The report indicates that none other than former long-time middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva will step up on just a few days notice to face off with “DC” in a none title fight. “The Spider” took to his official Instagram account to announce ‘Vegas here we come!’:

The Brazilian hasn’t competed since dropping a somewhat controversial decision loss to reigning 185-pound champion Michael Bisping last February.
Silva was scheduled to fight Uriah Hall at May’s UFC 198 in his home of Brazil, but he was forced out of the bout on short notice with a stomach injury that would require gall bladder surgery. After his surgery, “The Spider” made it clear that he would be ready to compete by UFC 200, and it appears as if he has gotten his wish.
Cormier, who is coming off of a decision win over Alexander Gustafsson, said yesterday that he was willing to fight anyone.
Stay tuned to LowKickMMA as we await official confirmation from the UFC.
