Repeat Offender? Details Of Second Nick Diaz Arrest Surface
The mugshot of Nick Diaz taken after his arrest in Lodi, California for suspected DUIThe recent news that Nick Diaz was arrested for suspected DUI in California does little more than add to the legend behind the name. Although it won’t do him any good with future job applications, it’s highly unlikely that the touted ex-Strikeforce boss will be pulled from his UFC 183 bout with Anderson Silva over the infraction.
That being said, it appears there is a bit of a pattern forming here. Multiple sources are reporting that last night’s blooper is not the first in recent times for Diaz, in fact he was arrested on the same tip less than a year ago. Check out what FOX Sport’s Marc Raimondi posted to Twitter:
In that Dec. 12 incident, Diaz was charged with DUI and then missed multiple court dates before surrendering Aug. 21 and making $25K bail.

Diaz was also arrested last Dec. 12 on three other counts: DUI, DUI with an alcohol or drug level above .08 and unsafe speed for prevailing conditions, according to a San Joaquin County Court spokesperson. Another count — failing to appear after a written promise — was added when Diaz missed multiple court dates.
So what do Diaz’s employers make of the situation? Well, the UFC released a rather non-committed statement to their official website today:
“We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering the facts. We understand that there is a legal process that will now take place and that Nick Diaz will have the opportunity to address the situation in the near future.””
I’m not going to kick a guy when he is down, but Diaz really needs to smarten up. He isn’t a kid anymore, and may find himself up sh*t creek if he doesn’t perform against Anderson Silva in January. We’ve seen bigger names fall from taller heights in no time, so the ‘invincible’ aura doesn’t mean a thing right now.
Multiple DUI charges and being cast in to the limelight for the wrong reasons is the last thing on anyone’s wish list for Diaz, but at the least the guy can really pull off a mug shot pose.
