Renato Canuto Beats Oliver Taza on Points, Announces MMA Debut – UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10 Highlights

Renato Canuto needed overtime, but he got the job done at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10 against Oliver Taza.
Canuto vs. Taza got off to a fast and furious start with Canuto shooting in for an early takedown. Once on the mat, Taza stayed offensive off his back, but Canuto managed to transition to half-guard. However, he was unable to accomplish much with the position.

Following a restart, Canuto passed into side control and got his knee on Taza’s midsection. However, Taza worked his way back up, though the reprieve was only momentary as Canuto returned Taza to the mat with an impressive judo throw. Canuto nearly passed into the mount but was unable to do so before the time in regulation came to an end.

During the overtime period, both competitors attempted a variety of takedowns, but neither was able to offer anything substantial through the first few minutes of the period. Canuto’s gas tank appeared to be holding up better as the clock ticked down, and he trapped Taza in a reverse crucifix position.

In the final moments of the match, Canuto scored points after passing Taza’s guard, securing him a victory.
