Rashad Evan says he’ll wait for Shogun

After Dana White announced the dissapointing news that Shogun Rua will be sidelined until March 2011 Number One Contender Rashad Evans gave his thoughts on the situation.

“I kind of figured he would be out for awhile after his last fight hearing how he went into the fight beforehand. At this point, unless they come up with an interim title, then I’ll wait,” Evans said. “Having a chance to fight for a title is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I consider myself to be very lucky that I got two chances.”

Evans earned another shot at the belt after taking out top LHWs Thiago Silva and Rampage Jackson. Evans first earned the title after beating Forrest Griffin but his run was cut short as he next faced then undefeated Lyoto Machida. Rashad tried playing safe but eventually The Dragon was too much and brutally Knocked Out Evans in the second round. Now Rashad has another chance but waiting for Rua means he now will be sidelined for approximately 10 months.
