Rafael Dos Anjos Declares The Belt Will Soon Be His

UFC 185

The surging Rafael dos Anjos has the chance of a lifetime in front of him as UFC 185 quickly approaches this weekend (March 14, 2015). The Brazilian has the opportunity to fight for the lightweight title in the main event against current lightweight king Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.

Dos Anjos earned his chance to fight for the title by scoring a devastating first-round knockout of former champion Benson Henderson last August, as well as destroying veteran Nate Diaz at last December’s UFC on FOX 13.

Despite his recent success, the Brazilian is going up against one of the best in the world plain and simple. Pettis is one of the most athletic and unpredictable fighters in the UFC, possessing lethal striking as well as a new and improved ground game. But dos Anjos is confident, speaking with MMAFighting at today’s (Wed., March 11, 2015) UFC 185 open workouts, he claims that the belt is waiting for him:

“The belt has a date to be mine.”

Seeming to be very relaxed during the interview, the challenger admitted that he is just blessed to be where he’s at. Also continuing to display his confidence, dos Anjos stated that he’s going to do what his fans and his family expect him to do, and that’s bring the UFC championship belt back to Brazil.

Dos Anjos has been on a tear as of late, but it’s a different story when Anthony Pettis is standing across the cage from you. Can the Brazilian dethrone the champion this weekend?
