Quote: The UFC Only Has Five Girls Who Can Give Holly Holm Competition
Following her win over Marion Reneau by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 71, the UFC announced that Holly Holm is scheduled to face Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 for the women’s bantamweight championship.
Best Fight Odds reports that Rousey has opened as a -1250 favorite against Holm, who is a +825 underdog.
Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez claims that the UFC doesn’t have more than five fighters who can compete with Holm thus the reason she has every right to fight Rousey at the event.
“The UFC doesn’t have anybody but maybe five girls who can give Holly competition,” Fresquez told Sherdog.com.
Fresquez mentioned that he as well as Holm was worried about Holm’s UFC debut, but she shined like a star in that bout.
“I’m so glad we got the feel of it,” Fresquez said. “That was what I was so worried about. That first UFC fight, she was coming off three injuries. I wasn’t really worried about the injuries. I was more worried about the stage because she had never been at that level.”
There was some tension at first over Holm’s contract with UFC brass, but everything got straightened out and things are apparently good between the two sides.
“The UFC has treated us very good. I have nothing, but praise for these guys – Dana, [UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta] have treated me great,” Fresquez said. “They treat Holly great.”
UFC 193 will be held on November 15, 2015 (in the U.S) from Melbourne, Australia at Etihad Stadium.
