Quote: Jose Aldo Is Too Dominant For Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor may be the best at selling his image, but one fellow fighter doesn’t buy it….

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was part of a barn burner in his UFC 179 rematch with Chad Mendes, and really quelled the banter about how much fire he has left to fight. In doing so, Aldo opens the door to a number of interesting future bouts, but one is getting more attention that any other right now; I’m talking about Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor.

Although “The Notorious” is booked in to face Dennis Siver in early 2015, there is a strong sense that the Irish bad boy will be fighting for the title sooner rather than later. Speaking with MMAFighting.com, former light-heavyweight champion, and current UFC middleweight Lyoto Machida discussed Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor, and more:

“If you’re going to compare him to Jose Aldo, Aldo is technically better, (McGregor) is a tough fighter, he’s coming out strong, but you can’t say he beats Aldo. Aldo is too dominant.”

“The Dragon” also touched on the subject of McGregor’s trash talking, and how it compares to his own style of self promotion:

“It’s not my style to talk trash to my opponents, I have techniques to get (to a title fight) in a way that I think it’s the right way. If you win fights convincingly, it makes it easier. He can promote himself the way he wants. I don’t see (McGregor) as a bad person,” Machida said. “He’s right, he’s promoting himself this way, and we have to respect him.”

Perhaps McGregor will face the consequences of calling Dennis Siver a midget German steroid-heador maybe he will once again back up his notorious trash talk. Either way, Siver is a step back in the rankings after facing Dustin Poirier at UFC 178….
