Quick Quote: The Nevada State Athletic Commission Is Going To Bury Wanderlei Silva

UFC President Dana White doesn’t often mince his words, and was in full swing during the recent UFC 174 pre-fight media scrum. Among a number of subjects, the UFC president touched on the hot topic of the Wanderlei Silva drug test fiasco. ‘The Axe Murderer’ has dominated the headlines since apparently ducking a random drug test from the NSAC, and being pulled from his UFC 175 showing against Chael Sonnen.

Sonnen was then popped for banned substances and subsequently removed from his UFC 175 slot against Silva’s replacement, Vitor Belfort. What a mess. So what’s next? Well, Sonnen retired, Belfort revealed that he failed a drug test in February, and Silva has been summoned to a June 17 NSAC hearing. ‘The Baldfather’ has his own set of opinions on the situation with Wandy, check it out:

“Theres no loose ends with Wanderlei, that story is not going to end well. When you get caught using PEDs, you go away for a year or whatever, but I think they will make a serious example of Wanderlei. It is what it is when the NSAC shows up you take the test. I love Wanderlei, but you can’t skip out on a drug test. You pick up the phone or call your lawyer, or translator. They aren’t going to let Wanderlei off. The NSAC are going to bury him, in my humble opinion, they are going to bury Wanderlei Silva.”

Although nothing is official yet, and nor will it be until the June 17 hearing, it really isn’t looking good for Wanderlei Silva’s future in the UFC. As far as what Dana means by ‘burying’ Silva, I’m assuming it will mean he will not be getting a license any time soon. After such a lengthy and rather epic career, could ‘The Axe Murderer’ be forced to bow out in these murky circumstances?

One of the last legends of Pride FC that is still in winning form may have to hang up the gloves and call it a day. Who knows, perhaps there is a legit reason behind this whole saga, but even if there is, I think we may have seen the last of Silva in the octagon
