Quick Quote: Fedor Emelianenko considers retirement
Speaking at the Strikeforce media call, Russian MMA legend and the Pound for Pound King Fedor Emilianenko admits he is considering retirement lately. He also expressed a desire to stay with Strikeforce (should all go well in the future), effectively killing all chances of him ever signing with the UFC.
When asked about his future, Emilianenko told the press: “I don’t want to look beyond my fight against Fabricio Werdum, if everything goes well, and I will feel alright, – I will stay with Strikeforce. But I am considering retirement more and more often now.“
Reporters also asked the World’s number 1 HW how long he intended on fighting, and he told them: “I feel that fans want to see my performances… but I am trying to be objective about my abilities. If there is a point to continue or not. I am currently satisfied with the level of my performances, but when the situation will change I will consider retirement”
As for his political intentions, this is what Fedor Emelianenko had to say for the press: “Until I am out of the sport, I am not thinking about any type of political career. As long as I am fighting, I will not be involved in politics”

Here is some interesting quotes from the conference call, summarized by MMAMania.com:
Fedor Emelianenko: I don’t think fighters are defeated before they get in the ring with me. As far as after they fight me, I don’t think there’s any mystery or magic to it. Each fighter reacts differently to a loss. I don’t think I have anything to do with their success or lack thereof afterward.
Fabricio Werdum: This is a once in a lifetime fight. To fight the greatest fighter to ever live is truly an honor.
Fedor Emelianenko: I don’t pay attention to what people say about me. I don’t seek it out. I don’t have any reactions to what people say about me whether it’s positive or negative. I have more important things to do with my life than to surf the Internet.
Fabricio Werdum: I’ve studied Fedor’s fights my entire career. What’s most impressive to me is that he always finds a way to win
Fedor Emelianenko: I’m not a fan of watching UFC fights. Compared to a lot of the commercials and promotion in anticipation of their fights, and compared to a lot of the shows I’ve seen, there seems to be a lot of negativity involved in their shows. So I’m just not a fan of watching their programs.
Fabricio Werdum: I’m more calm and relaxed for this fight than any other in my career. I have no pressure.
