Poll: Who Will Be The Next UFC Featherweight Champion?

ufc featherweight champion

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will look to defend his title at UFC 179, as he tries to make it 2-0 against Chad Mendes in Brazil….

A lot of people are saying that Jose Aldo‘s days as UFC featherweight champion are numbered. The dominant Brazilian striker has not been beaten in nine years, but has certainly been shown to be human during his wins over Mark Hominick, Frankie Edgar and Ricardo Lamas. Edgar and Hominick exposed some holes in the champions game, and Lamas may have just shown that Aldo is now lacking the killer instinct.

Decision wins were very rare for Aldo in the past, but have been on tap since he started his UFC career. That being said, the Brazilian (for now) is still the reigning champion. So to the question, who will be the next featherweight champion? Does Chad Mendes have the best chance from the elite 145-pounders? We’ll certainly find out on Saturday at UFC 179.

What if “Money” is unable to conquer Aldo in the rematch, perhaps the brash Irish phenom Conor McGregor would be your pick? With guys like Frankie Edgar, Cub Swanson, Dennis Bermudez and the rest of the top flight at featherweight, there is certainly no shortage of contenders. Who do you think wil become the next featherweight boss, or will Aldo remain on top until retirement?
