Poll: Who Is The Most Arrogant UFC Champion?
Rising UFC light heavyweight contender Ryan Bader took a page out of brash Irish trash talker Conor McGregor’s book when he made waves with his heated exchange with Daniel Cormier directly after ‘DC’ won the belt with a third round submission over Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson in the main event of last weekend’s (Sat., May 23, 2015) UFC 187 from Las Vegas.
But ‘Darth’ soon spoke up with his side of the tale, noting that Cormier started the trash talking with him at the post-fight presser, and that he always has drama with everyone. Bader took things to the next level, expressing his anger at not being able to fight ‘DC’ at June 6’s UFC Fight Night 68 by calling him the most undeserving and the most arrogant champion in the UFC.
Those may sound like bold words from Bader, yet Cormier has seemingly lost a lot of fans and gained a bit of a reputation as a drama queen who’s constantly calling someone out as he bullies guests as a co-host of UFC Tonight and a member of the FOX Sports UFC broadcast team.
He’s beginning to gain the heat of other supposedly arrogant champions like Ronda Rousey, whose well-known feuds with Miesha Tate and Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino have painted her as a ruthless, cocky champion.
It may be on a smaller scale, but many also feel that middleweight champion Chris Weidman is extremely arrogant for his brash statements that he would finish off Brazilian legends Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort. He backed it up, and that only serves to make the opinion of his haters even more heated.
Finally, he’s not a champion anymore, but he never lost the belt, and perhaps no other fighter has underwent more backlash for being arrogant than decorated but troubled former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, so I had to include him in this poll. Who do you think is the most arrogant champion in the UFC?
