Pic: Melvin Guillard Suffers Brutal Broken Hand At Bellator 141
Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard has had a rough couple of years. After getting released from the UFC, Guillard had a short, and unsuccessful stint with the World Series of Fighting (WSOF), and finally made his Bellator debut last night (August 28, 2015) in the main event of Bellator 141.
Guillard took on Brandon Girtz, and the struggles continued for “The Young Assassin”, as he was continually battered, and slammed to the canvas. Guillard almost rallied back to score a finish late in the fight, but ultimately Girtz secured a split-decision victory.
However, the loss was not the only downfall to Guillard’s night, as it has been confirmed that the UFC vet suffered a pretty brutal hand injury early on in the second round. American Top Team coach Din Thomas took to his official Instagram account, posting a picture of the injury to Guillard’s hand:
Dear Melvin Guillard’s hand, You sure picked an awful time to break. #bellator
Bellator officials have stated that the fighter is expected to undergo surgery in the very near future. Despite his hand injury, does Guillard still have a future in the sport after his latest performance?
