PFL veteran Patricio Pitbull endorses UFC move with call to Dana White: ‘I’m officially free’
Following his official release from the PFL, Brazilian veteran, Patricio Pitbull has once more teased an imminent move to the UFC — this time sending out the bat signal to promotional boss, Dana White through his official social media.
Pitbull, a former two-weight Bellator MMA champion, received his official PFL (Professional Fighters League) release this week, upon request, having voiced his persistent displeasure with the lack of movement on his next outing with the Donn Davis-led promotion.
Sidelined from combat sports since March of last year, Natal veteran, Pitbull most recently headlined Bellator Champions Series 1 against featherweight championship challenger, Jeremy Kennedy, landing a third round TKO victory.
And yet to compete under the exclusive banner of the PFL, Pitbull was granted his release from the promotion this week — who eventually dropped their exclusive matching rights — which would effectively allow the promotion to resign him if they matched an offer on the table from a rival organization.
Patricio Pitbull mentions Dana White as UFC move continues to rumble
Welcoming the chance to take on former undisputed featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski in a potential Octagon landing, Pitbull shared a similar sentiment in a bid to get the attention of UFC boss, White — hitting him up on his official X account.
“Hi @danawhite,” Patricio Pitbull posted.
“I’m officially, unrestrictedly, free,” Patricio Pitbull wrote.
And earlier this week to boot, the former duel-weight champion outlined his plans to win the featherweight championship if he makes good on a long-mooted move to the UFC, with sights set on names ranging from champion, Ilia Topuria, to surging challenger, Diego Lopes.
“Let’s do that fight [with Alexander Volkanovski],” Patricio Pitbull told Ariel Helwani for Uncrowned. “Here’s the number one contender, I want that belt, and here’s the guy. Yes, I would score him number one — no, (Ilia) Topuria is my top choice. Diego Lopes. He’s a good one [fight].”
