Pat Cummins Talks Daniel Cormier: His Issue Is Mental Weakness
Patrick Cummins will face an uphill battle at UFC 170, in the form of Strikeforce heavyweight GP winner Daniel Cormier. ‘Durkin’ (yes, really) last competed at ‘Chaos In The Cage’ defeating Willie Smalls (yes, really) to improve to 4-0. That was in May last year, and now he faces a debuting, angry DC at 205 pounds.
Why is Cormier seemingly so pissed off? Well, apart from Cummins publicly saying he made Cormier cry in training, Cummins has said he will ‘break’ DC and now he is digging up failed weigh-ins at the Olympics? Check it out:
“‘I’m going to play the chess game to win,’ and I’m going for broke. I’m getting after it hard. I mean, maybe that doesn’t come across in the four fights that they’ve seen, but, I got four finishes in four fights all in the first round. I think that says something.
“His weakness is mental,” said Cummins. “A guy comes out there, doesn’t make weight for the Olympics. I mean, c’mon guys, that is about as mental of an issue as you can get.”
Cummins does have an unbeaten record with four finishes, but I can’t help but think his mouth is writing too many cheques. Although Cormier’s weight cut might enable Cummins to have some advantages, I think this will be little more than a squash match.
