UFC 147 Results Recap: Rich Franklin emerges victorious over Wanderlei Silva

UFC 147 is in the books from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and Rich Franklin versus Wanderlei Silva delivered a good bout, although it may not have been what the Brazilian fans were rooting for.
The first round began with Wanderlei Silva landing a hard right followed by an exchange. Franklin grabbed a kick, then controlled the action against the cage by landing shots. In the second round Franklin continued to stalk his opponent. Wanderlei reversed the action and dropped Franklin, landing some ground-and-pound.

Injury forces Thiago Alves out of UFC 149

News broke today that Thiago Alves is out of his UFC 149 bout with Siyar Bahadurzada. Forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury, it is a disappointing setback for Alves. Looking to bounce back from a submission loss to the surging Martin Kampmann, Alves was set up to face Bahadurzada in an exciting war of two fast-paced strikers. The Brazilian kickboxer had dominated Kampmann on the feet before an ill-advised takedown spelled his doom. Alves was originally set to face Yoshihiro Akiyama on the card

Matt Hughes undecided on retirement, but would "love" a rematch with Thiago Alves

UFC Hall of Famer, Matt Hughes, who was last seen in action at UFC 135 in September, openly contemplates retirement, and discusses life after fighting. Hughes admits that he is still undecided about his future with the UFC, but says that, should he fight again, he would like an opportunity to avenge his 2008 loss to Thiago Alves.
