Dana White gives it to Jones and Jackson with both barrels

In front of a group of reporters gathered at UFC headquarters in Las Vegas, UFC President Dana White unloaded on UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and his coach, Greg Jackson. Dan Henderson was forced to pull out of UFC 151 because of a knee injury and Jones refused a bout against substitute opponent Chael Sonnen.White had no kind words for Jones: “The Jon Jones piece of meat f&#*ing thing. When I see him in f&#*ing  Toronto, that’s the first f&#*ing  thing we’re going to talk

Then and Now: What has changed in MMA since 2005?

A long term dynamic develops in every sport that sticks around for a while. A section of the fan base will inevitably compare the play of today to their heroes from yesteryear.  Whether it is the baseball fan that longs for the day where they didn’t have to worry about someone using performance enhancing drugs after every home run, or the football fan that yearns for the era of hard hitting and less complaining in the NFL. One thing is a common factor; this group wishes things would go back to

The five biggest UFC bouts that never happened in 2012

Obviously 2012 has been a year that held huge potential for MMA. While I wouldn’t say it was a horrible year for fighting, the insane amount of injuries and other controversy that wrecked cards is unprecedented. From main events all the way down to preliminary cards, we saw an unheard never of fights shifted, canceled, and just generally thrown into the muck. UFC 151’s cancellation was just the icing on the cake in what was the weirdest year MMA has ever seen.  And it’s not over yet. Let’s take a look

Vitor Belfort looking to fight Chris Weidman or the winner of Lombard vs. Boetsch

When asked about his next opponent, UFC Middleweight contender Vitor Belfort took little time in giving a decisive answer:
“Weidman, or the winner of the Cuban (Hector Lombard) vs. (Tim) Boetsch),” Belfort told MMA.tv via tatame.com
Weidman has many calling for him to be the next number-one contender at Middleweight. Dana White has also been quoted as perhaps fast-tracking former Bellator champ Hector Lombard to the title shot with a win over the top-10 Boetsch. Belfort has looked impressive in

The Huntington Beach Bad Boy: A look back at Tito Ortiz’s five greatest fights

With Tito Ortiz being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame prior to UFC 148, now is a great time to look back at the impressive body of work put forth by Ortiz. While many newer fans of MMA have seen Ortiz weather many storms that have impeded his momentum, there was a time when he was a nigh-unbeatable champion in the Light Heavyweight division. Before injuries, age, and a bitter feud with UFC President Dana White got to the former champion, Ortiz used a brutal mix of wrestling, conditioning, and

UFC 147: Sarafian drops out due to injury, replaced by Moraes

Yet another injury has forced a lineup change to UFC 147. According to the UFC, Daniel Sarafian (7-2), from The Ultimate Fighter Brazil, has been injured and cannot compete in this Saturday’s UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II.
Sergio “Serginho” Moraes (6-1), originally a Team Vitor prospect who was switched to Team Wanderlei mid-season, will be substituting for Sarafian at the Finale. Moraes, a solid jiu-jitsu expert  will now face Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira (4-2) to determine the first-ever middleweight

With Rio de Janeiro out of the question, UFC 147 moves to Minas Gerais, Brazil

After much debate the proposed stadium setting of Engenhao in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has been officially ruled out. In it’s place, Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais will serve as the location, at the  Estadio Jornalista Felippe Drummond. Dana White had high hopes of reaching upwards of 80,000 fans in a soccer-stadium setting as Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen continue their colossal rivalry. However, a much-publicized conflict with the previously scheduled UN conference on Sustainable Development
