The Last Emperor, the Huntington Beach Bad Boy and the Dutch Lumberjack are hanging up their gloves. The worlds of MMA and Kickboxing will be a smaller place without them; these three champions have thrilled fans for decades and 2012 is the last time we will see any of them fight. Although this writer does not like to loosely toss around the word, “legends”, in these three cases, the word is wholly appropriate.

Speaking at yesterday’s UFC 148 media conference call, UFC President Dana White declared high hopes for the card that arguably the most anticipated rematch in MMA history, Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II. White was not bashful in his declaration of expectations for the event:

Today the UFC 148 media conference call took place and had some great quotes from the combatants involved, as well as some comments from Dana White. Of course the always entertaining Chael Sonnen was on hand to spread his word, and the UFC Middleweight challenger also spoke out against his longtime rival. UFC 152 no longer set to feature JDS vs. Cain Velasquez II

Fans anticipating the highly awaited rematch between UFC Heavyweight champion and Cain Velasquez will have to wait for the time being. Dana White announced last night on Fuel TV’s post-UFC 147 show that the event, originally scheduled for UFC 152 live from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, will now be pushed back to a yet-to-be-determined date. When asked about the next Heavyweight title bout, White confirmed the change by stating:

The attendance and post-fight bonuses have been announced for tonight’s UFC 147 from Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Bonuses of $65,000 were awarded for Submission of the Night, Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night to Rodrigo Damm, Rich Franklin, Wanderlei Silva and Marcos Vinicius. UFC 147 Results Recap: Rich Franklin emerges victorious over Wanderlei Silva

UFC 147 is in the books from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and Rich Franklin versus Wanderlei Silva delivered a good bout, although it may not have been what the Brazilian fans were rooting for.
The first round began with Wanderlei Silva landing a hard right followed by an exchange. Franklin grabbed a kick, then controlled the action against the cage by landing shots. In the second round Franklin continued to stalk his opponent. Wanderlei reversed the action and dropped Franklin, landing some ground-and-pound.
