Just as Pride veterans Wanderlei Silva and Mark Hunt made their mark upon the MMA world in a big way this weekend, it appears that two stars from that…

Violence. That is the first thought that pops into the head of any long-time fan of MMA when it comes to Wanderlei Silva. Unbridled, rampant, bloody, violence. The thought is both good and bad for him, as he is not the only to one to inflict pain when entering the ring/cage with another man. From 1996 to the present day of MMA, one of the things you can guarantee is a Silva fight will consist of him moving forward and looking for the finish. Whether he achieved that finish, or turned into a victim himself w
With Rich Franklin stepping in to fight Wanderlei Silva at UFC 147 as a replacement for the injured Vitor Belfort, Cung Le was left without an opponent at UFC 148. That question has apparently been answered with the return of former UFC fighter Patrick Cote. Cote, a former title challenger who faced Anderson Silva back at UFC 90, was cut from the promotion in late 2010. Following that loss to Tom Lawlor at UFC 121, Cote began fighting in other promotions, and has responded nicely by winning four in a row
When I was first exposed to Quinton Jackson it was through an old PRIDE DVD that my Martial Arts teacher owned. It was PRIDE’s the Best of Rampage Jackson. This was of course before he became the MMA superstar that we know now in the UFC. His battles with Kevin Randleman, his upset in the first fight with Chuck Liddell, his rivalry with Wanderlei Silva, but what really stood out to me was “the slam”. Ricardo Arona is arguably one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners to ever make the jump to
At the age of 20 years old, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua made his professional Mixed Martial Arts debut. He dominated and destroyed his first four opponents, until he met crafty veteran Renato “Babalu” Sobral to whom he lost via guillotine choke. That first loss in Shogun’s career was an important lesson and agony of defeat was used as motivation for victory.

Following on from his win over Jorge Rivera, it seems Vitor Belfort wants a shot at Michael Bisping. Belfort is coming off of a loss against Champion Anderson Silva, back in February. Rumours had initially spread of a bout between Belfort and fellow Brazillian Wanderlei Silva, but it appears Joe Silva has had a change of heart.
A win over Bisping could see “The Phenom” quickly catapulted back into title contention. Despite being touted as the biggest challenger to
