Jose Aldo forced out of UFC 149 headliner with undisclosed injury

With injuries affecting UFC cards at an all-time high, huge news comes today as Featherweight champion Jose Aldo has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 149 headlining bout versus Erik Koch. The exact specifics of Aldo’s injury remain a mystery, but with the announcement, the Interim Bantamweight title bout of Urijah Faber versus Renan Barao has now been moved to UFC 149 as the main event.
Taking place in Cargary, Alberta, Canada, the Bantamweight Interim championship will now occur two weeks later. The

UFC on Fuel TV 2 Recap: Alexander Gustafsson beats Thiago Silva

Alexander Gustafsson was granted the opportunity of a lifetime, and delivered for his hometown fans in Sweden. He faced Thiago Silva, who had only previously lost to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans, with a great gameplan and striking accuracy. Earning a decision victory, Gustafsson took advantage of a first round uppercut that knocked his opponent down. Silva never quit coming forward the entire bout, but seemed to be just a step behind Gustafsson quick in-and-out style. The victory was the biggest of

Alessio Sakara: We both want to knock each other out and have the power to do so

Alessio “Legionarius” Sakara is no stranger to UFC competition. He debuted with the promotion in 2005 after spending time as a professional boxer in his native Italy. Since then he has been a veteran of 11 UFC bouts, amassing a modest 6-5 record while being noted for his always-exciting striking style. This Saturday, Sakara will return to the Octagon in Sweden after a long layoff of 13 months. He was interviewed yesterday and had some interesting things to say about his upcoming bout with the

Chael Sonnen's trainer: Bisping breaks easily, he's mentally weak

UFC Middleweight competitors Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping will face off at Chicago’s United Center on Saturday night when the promotion presents UFC on FOX 2. In a somewhat unexpected turn, Sonnen has mostly taken the high road in the days leading up to this event, not engaging in a great deal of the trash talk that has almost become expected of Sonnen.
While Sonnen has not engaged in a war of words with Bisping, members of his camp have picked up the gauntlet, namely Sonnen’s trainer Scott

A War of Words: Sonnen vs. Bisping Preview

This weekend’s UFC on FOX 2 card in Chicago, IL will showcase a high-profile bout between Chael Sonnen and Michael “The Count” Bisping as the co-main event.  After Mark Munoz was injured his elbow in training, Bisping moved in to take his place against Sonnen.  This short notice has made the anticipation suffer due to a lack of time to build up back-and –forth hype that would have most likely reached a fever pace considering the two combatants. Without a doubt, the fight

UFC Sweden: Alexander Gustafsson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to headline card

The UFC will expand its international footprint in 2012 when it travels to Sweden for the first time in the history of the promotion. The promotion will make its Swedish debut on April 14 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm.
The main event on the card will feature Stokholm’s own Alexander Gustafsson facing off against Antonio Rogerio “Lil’ Nog” Nogueira. Gustafsson is coming off a first round TKO win over Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 141. The victory pushed Gustafsson’s

Five Middleweights who could beat Anderson Silva

Chael Sonnen’s comments in his recent interview with Ariel Helwani on MMAFighting.com got me thinking. The always animated and controversial UFC Middleweight made comments regarding pound for pound rankings. Now I know rankings are purely subjective, based on fans and writers personal opinions, backed up of course by statistics. But for these “fantasy” rankings, there is one thing that almost all writers, fans, and so called experts can agree with. Anderson Silva is on
